This blog has been nominated for The Guardian Political Weblog Awards. What I was pleased about is that the nomination actually came from a local resident who says:
"I would like to nominate Councillor Stuart Bruce. He writes a very interesting blog about all the work he does as my local councillor. Until I started reading this I didn't realise how much councillors had to do. It's also fun to read what he thinks about national politics."
This is exactly why I do this blog - to let local people know what I am doing on their behalf and get them more interested in local politics.
Other nominees include Harry's Place and Tom Watson MP, both of which I read regularly. It also included a couple of new ones: Lynne Featherstone, a Greater London Assembly Member and Haringey councillor; and The Yorkshire Ranter.
If you want to vote for my blog then send an email to backbencher@guardianunlimited.co.uk with Councillor Stuart Bruce in the subject line. Close of poll is Monday 9 Feb with results announced on 12 Feb.
